There are two very different forms of tea on the market. Find out the differences between loose leaf tea and tea bags.
5 Main differences between loose tea and sachet tea:
1. TASTE: this is one of the characteristics that differentiates loose tea from sachet tea. While loose tea is made up of whole or broken leaves, sachet tea is made up of leaves that have been processed into powder. It is this processing used in sachets that destroys the essential oils naturally present in the tea, taking away all the flavor of a nice cup of tea. Tea leaves need space to expand and release all their flavor, color and aroma, which is not the case with sachet tea, since the leaves are crushed and compressed inside the sachet itself.
2. PACKAGING: the way in which loose leaf tea is packaged is equally different from bag tea. As for sachet tea, it can simply be stored in its original box, while loose tea should be stored in a food-safe container, preferably in tins or dark ceramics, with an airtight lid to preserve all the tea’s characteristics. However, all types of tea should be stored in a dark, cool and dry place, out of direct sunlight and without any contact with sources of humidity or heat.
3. PREPARATION: due to its main characteristic of being ready to use, tea in a sachet does not require an infuser for preparation.

These filters are made from selected cellulose pulp, 100% natural, bleached (through a chlorine-free process) and totally biodegradable.
As for loose-leaf tea, it can be prepared in various ways, using an infuser directly in the cup or teapot, or even placing the leaf directly in the water and straining it afterwards. You can also use paper filters and prepare your loose leaf tea quickly, always taking into account the ideal amount to contain. Check out our paper filters on our website, where we also have wired filters (sachet type).
4. VARIETY: although nowadays there is a wide variety of teas in sachets, the variety is greater when it comes to loose leaf teas. We have a wide variety of teas/infusions, more than 120, where you can choose between pure or flavored teas, and the choice will always depend on your personal taste. When choosing your tea, you can take into account your taste preference, whether or not it has theine in its composition (=caffeine) or whether you prefer an infusion rather than a tea, and here you can opt for our infusions of fruits, herbs or even Rooibos. The hard part will be choosing!
5. QUALITY. Loose tea is always of a higher quality than bagged tea.
The taste and aroma of loose leaf tea, which contains all its essential oils, will certainly be superior to bag tea, which contains only the powder of the plant/fruit. Here’s a challenge: try an infusion of our chamomile, the buds of which are totally visible and the aroma of which is undeniable, and then drink an infusion of chamomile from a sachet, and you’ll see where the quality lies. Buy our chamomile infusion here and try it now!
